Bangkok Airways Student Pilot Application & Procedures

The requirements are as follows:
- Thai national, male or female, age not over 28 years old (applicable date of birth not before October 01, 1995)
- Exempted from military service
- University graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree
- High proficiency skills in listening with good command of both spoken and written English
- TOEIC (>650)
- TOEFL IBT (>80)
- IELTS (>5.5)
- Certified score report must be less than 2 years from the date of the scheduled deadline
- Excellent health and good eye sight
- Applicants who wear glasses or contact lenses are allowed up to -300
- Applicants who had LASIK or PRK operations must wait one year before applying (Applicants who have a pre-Lasik eye certificate of more than 300 will have very little chance of passing the Medical Examination!)
- Minimum height of 163 cms.
- Holding a Police Clearance Certificate issued by the Royal Thai Police Clearance. Candidates will be disqualified for criminal or drunk driving records.

- Applicants must come to apply in person between 08:30 -12:30 or 13:30 - 16:30 (except weekends & public holidays) at the 16th. floor, Head Office, Samui Bangkok Airways Co., Ltd., Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road. Go to the Recruitment Room and give your documents to the recruitment staff.

- Two 1-inch recent photographs (taken in colour within 3 months of the application date)
- Identity card or government employee card
- House registration certificate / book
- Authentic certificate of exemption from military service (males only)
- Educational documents:
- Bachelor’s Degree & Bachelor’s Degree Transcript or Certificate of Expected Graduation
- TOEIC / TOEFL / IELTS (optional) certified score report
- Validity must be less than 2 years from the date of the scheduled deadline
- The application fee is B1,000. This is non-refundable.
Applicants must provide originals of all documents and one photocopy of each document.
Applicants with fake or fraudulently obtained military service exemption certificates will not be allowed to test.
Applicants who fail to submit all of the required documents will not be allowed to test.

- Technical Comprehension Test:
- Applicants will be tested on their abilities in subjects essential for pilots, like high school mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, general science, aviation, and general knowledge.
- Personality Test:
- Applicants will be tested on many aspects of their character, their strengths and weaknesses, and of their potential to become good and safe pilots.
- Applicants must be at the test room on time. They must also wear shirt and tie, and bring their Thai Identification card, and some pens, pencils, and erasers. Applicants are not allowed to take computers, calculators, mobile phones, or other personal belongings into the test room.
- Bangkok Airways staff will email eligible candidates the date of the Aviation Psychological Tests.
AVIATION PSYCHOLOGICAL GROUP TEST, 08:00 - 12:00, AT BRIEFING ROOM No. 1, 3rd FLOOR, THE INSTITUTE OF AVIATION MEDICINE, BHUMIPHOL ADULYADEJ HOSPITAL, 171, PAHOLYOTHIN ROAD: Please check dates at Bangkok Airways Careers.
- Applicants must arrive at the test room no later than 07:30 am.
- Applicants must wear a shirt and tie, and bring along a one-inch recent photograph, Thai Identification card, glasses (if necessary), and some pens, pencils, and erasers.
- The fee for the test is 1,500 Baht per person. Applicants must pay this on the day of the examination. It is non-refundable.
AVIATION PSYCHOLOGICAL INDIVIDUAL TEST, 08:15 - 13:00, AT ROOM No 1, 171, PAHOLYOTHIN ROAD. 223, 2nd FLOOR, THE INSTITUTE OF AVIATION MEDICINE, BHUMIPHOL ADULYADEJ HOSPITAL: Please check dates at Bangkok Airways Careers.
- Applicants must be at the test room on time.
- Applicants must wear a shirt and tie, and bring along their application ID card, Thai ID card, glasses (if necessary), and some pens, pencils, and erasers.
- Applicants will be tested by aviation psychologists.
- The aviation doctors will make an appointment with all eligible candidates later on for their Class I Medical Checkups.
MEDICAL TEST AT THE INSTITUTE OF AVIATION MEDICINE, ROYAL THAI AIR FORCE (NEXT TO BHUMIPHOL ADULYADEJ HOSPITAL), 171, PAHOLYOTHIN ROAD: Please check dates at Bangkok Airways Careers.
- All Student Pilot applicants are required to have a Medical Examination.
- The fee for the Medical Examination is 3,200 Baht per person. Applicants must pay this on the day of the examination. It is non-refundable.
- Applicants must:
- Not eat any food after 8 pm on the day before the Medical Examination. Applicants can drink a little water if it is really necessary.
- Applicants must wear shirt and tie, and bring their application ID, Thai ID card, and some pens, pencils, and erasers.
- It is not difficult to pass if applicants exercise a lot before the tests. The doctors are very strict about eyes, ears, and blood. If you are not sure or if you think you a problem, it is a very good idea to check your health 2 or 3 months before you have the examination. If you drink or smoke, it is also a very good idea to stop or limit it. If you cannot pass the easiest step to be a pilot, you will not be happy, so it is up to you to follow the advice above.

INTERVIEW BY THE PILOT SELECTION COMMITTEE ON THE 16th. FLOOR, HEAD OFFICE, SAMUI BANGKOK AIRWAYS CO., LTD., VIPHAVADI-RANGSIT ROAD: Please check dates at Bangkok Airways Careers.
- All applicants will have a 20-60 minute interview with a pilot selection committee.
- Usually only 2 people from the selection committee talk to you. The other person will watch you, and check your reactions when they stress or pressure you. They want to check you are serious to be a Bangkok Airways pilot, that you have the ability to work well under pressure, and that you can do 2 or 3 things at the same time. (This usually includes solving mathematics problems.)
- Applicants must be at the meeting room on time. They must also wear shirt and tie, and bring their Thai Identification card.
- Bangkok Airways staff will email successful candidates the date to sign their contracts.

- After the Final Results are announced, successful applicants are required to sign a contract with the company.
